HitClash / Personal information

Privacy policy

This policy explains what data HitClash uses, why it is needed, and how you can stay in control. It covers the iOS and Android apps, playhitclash.mcsedition.org, web challenges, and the community feed.

Effective September 2, 2026

01

Who is responsible for your data

mcsEdition, an independent publisher located at 1283 avenue Bourdages Nord, Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec J2S 5P7, Canada, is responsible for personal information processed for HitClash. You can reach the person responsible for privacy at contact@mcsedition.org.

This policy reflects Quebec private-sector privacy law and, where applicable, the European Union General Data Protection Regulation.

02

What we collect and why

HitClash limits collection to what is needed for operation, security, product measurement, purchases, and features you choose to use. Some features remain local to your phone.

Apple Music, iTunes, YouTube Music, and permissions

Playlist import is optional. On iPhone, HitClash asks for access to your Apple Music library. On Android, the connection to YouTube Music uses read-only permission to display playlists and their tracks. HitClash does not modify your playlists.

The iTunes catalogue may be queried to find tracks, artists, and artwork. Selected tracks are used to prepare the battle. You can revoke access in the settings of the relevant service. Notifications and advertising tracking are also optional. Refusing a permission only disables the feature that depends on it.

05

What becomes public

Anyone with a challenge link may be able to open it. A feed post displays your chosen name, public handle, battle tracks, result, and reactions. Do not use your full legal name or include sensitive information in your handle.

You can remove a post in the app. A report or block may keep limited technical details long enough to investigate abuse or handle a dispute.

06

How long information remains

  • Battles, preferences, and rankings stored locally remain until you delete them, clear the app’s data, or uninstall the app.
  • Public profiles, posts, and reactions remain while the feature is used. A deleted post is no longer displayed publicly.
  • A challenge becomes unavailable on its expiry date. Related technical records remain only as needed for security, dispute handling, or backups.
  • Measurement events and advertising identifiers are kept for the configured retention period, after which they are deleted or aggregated.
  • Subscription information follows the period needed to provide access and comply with Store and accounting requirements.
  • Support messages remain while a request is handled and afterwards only where needed for follow-up or legal claims.
07

Where information may be processed

mcsEdition is based in Quebec. Some providers operate in Canada, the United States, or other countries. Information may therefore be processed outside your country. We select established providers and rely on the contractual mechanisms and safeguards required for regulated international transfers.

08

How we protect information

Connections to HitClash use HTTPS. The API verifies each session, limits sensitive requests, and separates public data from private data. Access is limited to services that need it. No system can guarantee zero risk.

09

Your choices and rights

You may ask for access, correction, or deletion, withdraw consent, object to some processing, or file a complaint. Email contact@mcsedition.org with the relevant public handle and type of request. We may ask for limited verification to avoid releasing data to the wrong person.

You can also delete a feed post in the app, revoke permissions in device settings, manage subscriptions through your device’s app marketplace, and clear local information by deleting the app data.

10

Use by minors

A minor must use HitClash with a parent or legal guardian’s permission where required by law. The feed and challenge links must never be used to post a minor’s full name, address, school, or other location information. A parent may contact us to request deletion.

11

Changes and contact

This policy may change when HitClash adds a feature or changes a provider. The date at the top identifies the current version. For any privacy question or complaint, email contact@mcsedition.org.
